The Hidalgo County Republican Party (HCGOP) was honored recently to host Lt. Col. Allen West in McAllen. The decorated Army veteran served 22 years in several combat zones, represented Florida’s 22nd District in the U.S. Congress, and was Executive Director of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas, Texas.

Currently, Lt. Col. West is Senior Fellow at the Media Research Center as well as a Fox News Contributor, a columnist for Townhall.com, and a popular author.

During a morning tour of McAllen’s Border Patrol sector, followed by a sold-out luncheon at the Doubletree Hotel and a Town Hall meeting at local headquarters, West described how his experiences have shaped his views about the U.S.A. and the world.

With informal, personal attention, West answered numerous audience questions related to our nation’s past and present political stances. Attendees were particularly interested in West’s suggestions for specific, everyday interactions to help promote unity and preserve individual rights set forth in the Constitution.

West congenially signed copies of his latest book, Hold Texas, Hold the Nation—Victory or Death, now in bookstores and available for online order.
